Abstract

This study was designed to determine the factors militating against the implementation of guidance and counselling services in
secondary schools in Kogi State. The population for the study was made up of 102 practicing guidance counsellors in the state. It is made up of seventy (70)
professional counsellors and thirty-two (32) teacher-counsellors. Seventy-two (72) practising counsellors out of the total population of 102 counsellors are in the urban area while thirty (30) are in the rural area. (Source: Kogi State Post Primary School Management Board, 2002).
