Abstract

Appraisal scheme arc purely designed to assess past
perfomance in direct relation to merit salary awards, promotion
and to describe schemes designed to improve the performance of
employees. But more often the researcher hear some employees
in government establishments complain bitterly about performance
appraisal system in their work place. It: is either that the
method of appraising the work performance of employees is not
satisfactory or that the management do not utilize appraisal
results or they are not aware of the working of the system.
