Abstract

The incidence of high rate of population growth in Nigeria has bccn a
source of concern to well-meaning citizens. Thc 1988 National Policy on
Population, which is, perhaps, the most constructive national effort at
fertility regulation, emphasized birth limitation without considering the
extraneous factors for population growth such as social, economic, ethnic
and cultural factors - all of which influence population dynamics.
