The Producer in the Palm Oil Export of South- Eastern Nigeria in the Era of ‘Legitimate Commerce

By the 1840s, when the exports of slaves from South-Eastern Nigeria had, for all practical purposes, ceased, palm produce had emerged as the dominant export of the region. The new trade ultimately turned out to be far more lucrative and positive in its impact than its predecessor.
