Effects of Using Geoboard in Proofs of Geometric Theorems on Students’ Achievements

Abstract

This study was prompted by the desire to investigate the effect of using a
geoboard to provide students' activities in mathematics. It was found that in many
mathematical proof, students are rarely provided with practical means of verifying
mathematical theorems in secondary schools. And it was assumed that the
consistent poor achievement of students in the proof of theorems is a
consequence of abstract proofs. Moreover, proofs are often set in the ordinary
level mathematics examination as regularly observed. Researchers (Ihejieto,
1993, Sule, 1993) indicated that the students' poor achievement in these
examination has been re-occurring
