By

Abstract

Fitness can be total, specific, or general. Total fitness is a thorough or complete development of the individual, both in mind and body. it embodies the cultivation of all the dimensions of man: the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual. These dimensions serve the potentialities of the individual. Specific fitness is described as when an individual performs a particular task with a reasonable degree of efficiency, without undue fatigue, and with a rapid recovery from the effects of the exertion. The individual is said to be fit for that particular task. He may not be able to perform other tasks with the same ease and efficiency. General fitness on the other hand refers to the anbsence of disease and proper functioning of all body organs and all body parts.
