The study was designed to investigate Moonlight Recreational pursuits practiced
in Barking Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state. Four research
questions guided the study. The survey research design was used to execute the
study. The sample for the study consisted of 282 Students in JSS I l l and SSI in
eleven selected secondary schools in Barking Ladi Local Government Area. The
instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. Frequency count and
percentages tables were employed to analyze the data that emanated from the
study. The major findings of the study: Several Moonlight recreational pursuits
are practiced in the area of study (see table 1). Making friends and playing
together with others was the most mentioned reason for embarking on
recreational activities. (see table 2). Music was the most often practiced game by
the students while Haram Busa was hardly ever practiced (see table 3). Parents'
objection is the most acceptable factor militating against the participation in
moonlight recreational games. (see table 4). There is need to encourage
students by educating them (students) through organized seminars, workshops
or symposia, to promote the moonlight recreational activities. Factors constituting
barriers to student participation in moonlight recreational pursuits should be
eliminated, by providing the facilities and equipment. Parents should be educated
on the importance of participating in moonlight recreational activities.
