Omabe Masking Tradition in Ibagwa-Aka: A Resource for Visual Communication Design

Abstract

A quadrennial festivcl maaked by cultural -: rites,
conviviality and the Omabe Mr ski% Tradition
in Ibagwa-Aka has survived as a living culture whose
indigenous tradi-kionnl features are only fairly adulterated
by contemporary developments.
In this study, the researcher probes the aesthetic
contents of the Omabe cult, its evolving iconography, and
the potential of the festival as a source for present-day visual communication designs.
