Abstract

Performance appraisal may be considered, by definition, as the
systematic evaluation of the individual's performance on the job
and his potential for development. Within the precincts of this
understanding therefore it behooves on the practitioner that any
system/method chosen in carrying out an appraisal must take into
cognizance the effect(s) of such method on the outcome of the
given organization.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL ON EMPLOYEE JOB
PERFORMANCE IN ORGANIZATIONS, can be fully
appreciated. The operative words are EFFECTS, and ON
EMPLOYEE JOB PERFORMANCE. That is, its impacts on the
employee job performance with a view of optimum performance
(optimum individual contribution) leading to the optimization of
the organization's objectives in the short run (not forgetting the
medium term objective(s).
