SEX EDUCATION: WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY?

By

Abstract

The constant increase in the incidents of teenager
pregnancy and its associated consequences, which the writer
observed in her place of work, has stimulated her to consider
measures to reduce its occurrences. The writer then devised
sex education: Whose responsibility? as a means to stimulate,
encourage, and strengthen and to create awareness among
parents, carers, teachers, medical personnel, churchs, per-
goups and the entire public that sex education is
everybody's responsibility. She also wishes to encourage
parents to take up the lead because learning starts from home
and continued in life to other places. She also wishes to
strengthen teachers and medical personnel in their
contributing role and to allay the misconception about sex
education that usually comes from the churches and public
controversy.
