STRONG CONVERGENCE THEOREMS FOR CERTAIN CLASSES OF PSEUDOCONTRACTIVE MAPPINGS IN REAL BANACH SPACES

Abstract

In this thesis, strong convergence theorems for certain classes of pseudocontractive map-
pings are proved in Banach spaces. Strict pseudocontractive mappings are considered in
the framework of q-uniformly smooth Banach spaces while the Lipschitz and the con-
tinuous pseudocontractive mappings are considered in the framework of Hilbert spaces.
Applications are in the areas of solution of accretive operator equations, inverse problems,
minimization and equilibrium problems.
