Survey and Quality Evaluation of Some Grazing Reserves in Sokoto and Kebbi States of Nigeria

By

Abstract

The socio-physical conditions of ten (10) selected grazing reserves in Sokoto and Kebbi states both in the 500 mm rain-belt were carried out to determine the nomadic system of cattle production and some productivity indices of the grazing reserves.
A questionnaire was administered to nomads, range managers and veterinary staff in the reserves selected. Samples of soil, forage and faeces were collected from the selected grazing reserves while samples of rib-bone were collected from abattoirs nearest to the grazing
reserves.
