Abstract

In a greenhouse study, . variations in
physico-chemical properties of soils amended with rice
shavings (RS), cowdung (CD), a mixture of rice shavings
and cowdung (RS+CD), and humic acid (HA) extracted from
oxidized coal were evaluated on soils collected from
the Ap horizon of a sandy clay loam Ultisol and clay
Entisol. The RS, CD and RS+CD were applied at the rates
of 0, 2,5, and 5 percent, while the HA was applied at
the rates of 0, 0,01 and 0.5 percent under sterile and
non-sterile conditions. Each treatment was replicated
three times and incubated at approximately field capa-
city for twenty weeks, Changes in selected physical,
chemical and rheological properties were measured after two weeks (T~), twelve weeks (~,i) and twenty
weeks (TZ0) of incubation and ageing.
